General Rules
The following rules and warnings apply to every race:
Be nice and considerate to other participants, regardless of the situation.
Thank the volunteers (a lot) - you wouldn't be doing this race if it wasn't for them.
Watch the weather before race day and dress appropriately.
Make sure your health is adequate for you to participate - check with a doctor first if you are unsure.
Do not litter - if you drop something, please pick it up.
The course is not closed so stay to the side and be aware of others on the trails and cars on the roads.
Once you are registered, there will be no refunds, transfers, or deferments. Sorry, but please don't ask.
The race director reserves the right to postpone or cancel the race due to unsafe conditions.
If you need to drop out of the race, inform an aid station volunteer and tell them your race number. Arrangements can then be made to transport you back to the start/finish area if needed.
The race director may disqualify a participant if there is reasonable evidence that they did not complete the entire course or received outside assistance during the race. For events sanctioned by USATF, the race director may also disqualify a participant if they did not follow the USATF Competition Rules (it is your responsibility to know these rules).
Any participant who refuses to obey the directions of race officials, including fire and police officials, city officials or course marshals, or who conducts themselves in an unsportsmanlike manner, or who is offensive by action or language to officials, volunteers, participants or spectators, may be disqualified at the discretion of the race director.
Participants who qualify for awards may be required after the race to provide a copy of a government-issued photo ID to verify age and gender information.
Overall finisher awards will be based on 'gun time', whereas age group awards will be based on 'chip time'.
Participants competing for overall awards (cash prizes) may not use music or communication devices during the event.
Race numbers shall be visible at all times and worn on the front of the body.
Headphones are discouraged. If worn, they shall not disturb others or restrict the participant from hearing others around them.
Strollers are not allowed. If you need special accommodation, please touch base and we will see what we can do.
Participants shall line up at the starting line according to their expected pace, with the faster runners up front.
Dogs and other animals are not allowed to accompany participants and we request they are left at home.
Be aware that, in addition to these, additional rules may apply for specific races. Refer to the individual race sites.
